Marketing Strategy FOr a driving school
A modern online presence for a company thats not afraid to get in the fast lane. DrewMatic needed a brand and website created that would appeal to their young audience.
Struggling in the increasingly crowded driving school market, DrewMatic needed a brand and website that would not only rival there major, national competitors but surpass them.
Starting with initial research into the current customer path and their personas, a website that provided a clear user experience for learners and instructors alike was required. Given the mobile nature of the business too, the new website needed to have extensive responsive functionality. It was fundamental I created a clear user experience that was simple to use for instructors and pupils across a wide range of mobile devices.
Aiming largely at the teenage market, the new website also needed to have social media facilities.
After reviewing DrewMatics existing logo it soon came to light that this was created it paint shop pro and was not in a vector format which I would usually expect.
With a few modifications and a redraw in Adobe Illustrator, the new logo is a modernised, vectorised re work of the original that will work in all mediums.
Web Design & Build
With a clear understanding of the customer journey in place, various levels of custom functionality had to be built into the website to replicate the existing offline experience. In order to cement the brand and continue positioning DrewMatic as one of the leading and forward thinking driving schools in the North, I developed a suite of bespoke online features.
With the key functionality in place to maximise customer engagement and provide the best user experience possible for instructors and pupils, an online shop and bespoke online payment integration were developed. These features add an additional dimension to the website to monetise a new revenue stream, but also to reduce central admin time and provide cost savings from processing customer payments over the phone.
SEO & PPC
A new website is pointless if no one can find it, and the guys at DrewMatic knew this and asked me to carry out a full SEO (search engine optimisation) service to ensure their new website is found in Google. In less than 2 months DrewMatics website was ranking on page one of the search results for ‘automatic driving instructor Sunderland’ and various other related search terms.
DrewMatics site has since ranked higher than any other automatic driving school in the local area and moved into the top 2 overall with only Yell standing in the way (which I can’t do much about at the moment due to big brand bias).
I combined this with a PPC campaign to give the new website an initial boost which saw a rapid increase in customers and more bookings than ever. By increasing relevancy and creating personalised adverts within Google PPC I was able to improve website conversions by 55.9% and boost sales by 20%.
The DrewMatic Automatic site currently receives over 20,000 visits a month from nearly 9,000 users, a key metric for DrewMatic to indicate the uptake of the new online platform and interaction with its existing customers. With a site-wide bounce rate of 21% and over 85,000 page views, all key custom functionality built into the site is being used effectively as part of the desired user experience.
