Brand Campaign for Independent Theatre Company

Graphic Design

I developed a contemporary brand campaign for an independent theatre company in Scotland, focusing on revitalising their marketing collateral. The project began with the creation of a set of unique characters in Illustrator, which were integrated throughout their marketing materials. I designed a social media campaign aimed at attracting new clientele while promoting their shows and workshops. Additionally, I designed a print campaign featuring eye-catching posters to advertise their performances. Throughout the campaign, I used a playful colour palette to ensure a cohesive and engaging design.

Campaign design judged on seats sold

An independent theatre has a short window and a fixed capacity, so the campaign has a number attached to it from the first sketch. The identity, posters, programmes and digital assets were built to do two different jobs at once: catch the eye of someone walking past a poster with no plans, and reassure someone already searching for the production that they are in the right place. Print and digital were designed together so the show looked the same in both.

Work like this sits between graphic design and campaign strategy — which is the point of having one marketer doing both rather than briefing two suppliers.
