Northamptonshire runs on a calendar most places don’t. Silverstone and the engineering firms clustered around it work to a race season, and a great deal of the county’s skilled employment follows it — contracts that start in the winter build-up, run hard through the season, and finish when it does.
Car finance sold in thirty-six-month blocks fits that badly. A short term lease fits it exactly: one monthly payment, a car delivered to your door, handed back when the contract ends. Terms run from one month, three, six, nine, and twelve through eighteen.
A season is roughly nine months. A build phase might be three. A fixed-term engineering contract is often six.
Pick the term that matches rather than the one the finance company prefers. Three months covers a short engagement, six a fixed-term post, nine most of a season or an academic year. When the work ends, so does the agreement — you’re not still paying next spring for a job that finished last autumn.
Contract engineers and technicians. Seasonal and project-based work across the motorsport and engineering cluster, where the end date is known from the start.
People commuting to sites without a rail option. Silverstone, Towcester, Daventry and the industrial estates along the M1 are not places you reach easily without a car, whatever the timetable says.
NHS and care staff. Bank, locum and fixed-term roles across Northampton General and community services.
Students and university staff. Term time runs around nine months; funded posts run to their funding.
Businesses. New starters who need a car immediately, teams that scale for a season, and work vans on the same flexible terms.
Two quite different kinds of driving here. The A43, A45 and M1 mean regular fast A-road and motorway running, where economy and comfort over distance are what matter. Then there are the county lanes — Towcester, Brackley, the villages off the main routes — where high hedges and narrow passing places reward a car you can place accurately.
Our range covers both — city cars, saloons, SUVs and 4x4s, all new or near-new. Electric options suit lower-mileage local driving well; if your week is mostly motorway, work through the charging stops on your actual routes first.
Worth understanding before you start, because it’s where short-term agreements are most often misunderstood.
You pay a refundable damage deposit alongside your first month. Through the term, your monthly price covers the car, servicing, maintenance, road tax, MOT and breakdown cover — insurance, fuel or charging are yours. At the end, you call us, we collect the car from your address, and the deposit comes back.
The car should come back in a condition reasonable for its age and the miles it has done.Allowances themselves begin at 1,000 miles a month on terms under a year and 833 a month from twelve months upward, with larger bands available. Normal use is expected and fine — stone chips from the A43, ordinary wear on the seats. What isn’t covered by that is damage: kerbed alloys, dents, tears, anything a normal few months wouldn’t produce. We’ll tell you the standard upfront rather than at hand-back. And if you go over your mileage allowance, the rate is 65p a mile plus VAT on 1 and 3 month agreements and 40p plus VAT on the longer terms — stated now, not discovered at collection.
Car lease deals in Northampton, car leasing, car subscription, monthly car rental, short term car hire — one product behind all of them: a car for a defined number of months, billed monthly.
Across Northampton and Northamptonshire — Abington, Kingsthorpe, Duston, Far Cotton, Weston Favell, Wootton, Hardingstone, Moulton and Billing — and out to Towcester, Daventry, Brackley, Wellingborough, Kettering and Rushden. Whichever is easier to be at — home or the workplace. The car arrives cleaned and ready, so there’s no depot to visit.
Can I lease a car just for the length of a contract or season?
Yes — that’s what these terms are for. Set the term against the work in hand, then hand the keys back. No charge applies when a term simply runs out.
What condition does the car need to be in when I return it?
Reasonable for its age and mileage. Ordinary wear is expected; damage isn’t. We’ll set out the standard when you book so there are no surprises at collection.
Can I get a car lease in Northampton with no deposit?
No, and it’s worth reading the small print wherever you see one offered. Your opening payment is the first month plus a deposit you get back. It protects against early cancellation, missed payments and damage, then comes straight back to you. Nothing upfront tends to mean a higher monthly — the money hasn’t disappeared.
Do you run credit checks?
Every application includes a standard credit check. Anyone offering to skip it is generally recovering the risk through a larger deposit or a higher rate.
How is this different from car rental?
Rental prices in days because the car is turned around constantly. A monthly term does not, so the per-day cost falls once you are past a fortnight.
Do you deliver outside Northampton?
Yes, across Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties. If you’re further south we also cover short term car leasing in Milton Keynes. Tell us the address at booking and we’ll confirm the detail.
Can I change car or extend?
Yes. Change vehicle at the end of a period, extend if the work continues, or hand it back. Tell us early either way.
Why are short term leases getting more popular?
Flexibility and lower risk, particularly where work is seasonal or contract-based. A current car without the capital, and a straightforward exit if the situation moves. There’s a fuller comparison in leasing versus buying, and subscription versus lease sets out how the two differ.
Do you deal with businesses as well as private customers?
Both. On the business side that means sole traders through to PLCs, ex-VAT pricing, and underwriting against the company rather than the individual. Fleet terms can be staggered rather than aligned.
Season work means my income isn’t year-round — does that count against me?
Not where the payments are affordable across the term you’re taking, which is the point of matching one to the other. Getting a lease car without a job sets out what we ask for.
Prices are shown without VAT — that’s the figure most businesses budget against. We show the VAT-inclusive number too, so nobody has to do the sum themselves.
Three things decide what you actually recover. Whether the car is available for private use, which usually caps recovery on the hire charges at half. Whether the provider invoices maintenance separately — some do, and that element is treated differently. Ours is built into the monthly figure. And whether the vehicle is a car or a van, because vans are treated far more generously.
